East King Business Hotel (West Lake store, Hangzhou) Overview

First Impressions

Walking into the East King Business Hotel (West Lake store, Hangzhou), you immediately get that no-nonsense business hotel vibe — and honestly, that’s exactly what it delivers. The lobby is clean and functional, nothing fancy, but there’s something reassuring about a place that knows what it is. The staff at the front desk were genuinely helpful when I checked in, and I could tell this wasn’t their first rodeo with international guests.

Location That Actually Matters

Here’s the thing about this three-star hotel — the location is absolutely killer. You’re literally on Yuewang Road in the heart of Hangzhou, which means you can walk to West Lake in about ten minutes (I timed it). The area buzzes with that perfect mix of local life and tourist energy, and you know what? Couples seem to really get this place — there’s something romantic about being so close to the lake without paying five-star prices. The metro station is close enough that you don’t need to think twice about exploring other parts of the city.

The Room Experience

My room was exactly what you’d expect from a solid business hotel — clean, comfortable bed, decent-sized desk if you need to get work done. The bathroom was spotless, which honestly matters more to me than fancy amenities. Sure, it’s not going to win any design awards, but everything worked perfectly. The air conditioning was a lifesaver during Hangzhou’s humid summer, and the Wi-Fi was actually fast enough for video calls (always a gamble in budget hotels, but this one delivered).

Practical Perks

What I really appreciated was how straightforward everything was. The hotel has parking available, which is huge if you’re driving in Hangzhou — trust me, finding a spot near West Lake can be a nightmare. There’s a small restaurant on-site that serves decent local dishes, nothing extraordinary but totally reliable for a quick meal. The breakfast spread was simple but fresh, and they actually had real coffee alongside the usual tea selection. Staff members are attentive and responsive to guest needs throughout your stay.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t a place that’s trying to be something it’s not, and that’s exactly why it works so well. You’re paying for a clean, comfortable stay in an unbeatable location — and you’re getting exactly that. The fact that it scores so highly with couples tells you everything you need to know about the romantic potential of being this close to West Lake. I mean, when you can stroll to one of China’s most beautiful spots in minutes, who cares if your hotel room doesn’t have marble countertops? It’s honest hospitality in the best possible location, and sometimes that’s all you really need. Whether you’re visiting for business or leisure, this hotel delivers reliable service and exceptional value.

Hotels in Hangzhou dot historic Hefang Street, lakeside promenades, and tech districts brimming with modern teahouses.

Reviews of East King Business Hotel (West Lake store, Hangzhou)

  • Comfortable unit for a tired traveller – Young from Singapore – 5 April 2025 (9/10)

Location was good. Not too far from the West Lake. There were also night markets that was just downstairs and convenient for a flavour of the night market scene in Hangzhou. You can see the brillant sunset of Hangzhou from the living room.

What could be improved: Breakfast was provided, but the receptionist did not mention that it stops at 8.30am.
It is a big early to finish the breakfast buffet considering it was a Saturday morning.

  • Very good – Tianhong from Netherlands – 12 June 2024 (8/10)

  • Poor – Zhuo from Singapore – 3 January 2024 (3/10)

    The space of the room

What could be improved: Room has a mouldy smell which i didnt like.
The reception counter was not what i expected, kind of creepy.

  • Very good – Claudia from Austria – 9 November 2023 (8/10)

    Good location, relatively clean

What could be improved: I believe the facilities are old which makes it look less clean than it is

  • Very good – Raymond from Malaysia – 17 October 2023 (8/10)

    What could be improved: 服务方面和清洁方面。

  • Exceptional – Yi from Germany – 6 September 2023 (10/10)

  • Overall just ok. – Winston from Indonesia – 22 July 2023 (6/10)

    The location is good

What could be improved: Facilities is a bit old and my room that i live has abit of smell.

  • Dishonest Hotel – Yong from United States – 7 July 2023 (1/10)

    Location is good

What could be improved: This property is not honest. According to booking.com's policy, this property is supposed to collect our payment in the local currency (CNY) when we checked out. But they didn't. They charged our credit card in US dollars directly with a 5.5% mark up of the currency exchange rate. I asked them to change it to the local currency (CNY), but they kept saying they collected in CNY. After we showed them the screenshot of the credit card charge in US dollar, they just ignored our messages. We booked many hotels through booking.com and this is the only one we had the problem with. Hard to believe booking.com will allow this kind of hotels to stay at its website

  • Pleasant – Román from Uruguay – 18 June 2023 (6/10)

What could be improved: Internet malo

  • Very good – Ye from Canada – 7 February 2023 (8/10)

The hotel is located in a quiet street near a major commercial hub. The popular tourist zone is within a walking distance. I also got an upgraded room with Lake view. Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperating, which is very typical in the winter months in Hangzhou.

I also like the book about the history and culture information about the neighborhood. I grew up in Hangzhou and some buildings are familiar to me as a child, but I never knew the history behind these buildings. I found it is very entertaining to learn the historical development on one of the most famous neighborhood in the city.

What could be improved: Can hear the shower sound on the next room.
