The Room Experience

My room was on the 18th floor, and the view was actually pretty spectacular — you get glimpses of West Lake in the distance if you’re lucky with your assignment. The rooms are compact but smartly designed, with floor-to-ceiling windows that make the space feel bigger than it is. What I really appreciated was the rainfall shower (the water pressure is excellent) and the fact that they provide both slippers and bathrobes that don’t feel cheap. The beds are firm in that way Chinese hotels do well, and the blackout curtains actually work, which matters when you’re dealing with jet lag.

Location and Getting Around

You know what’s great about this spot? You’re literally above one of Hangzhou’s biggest shopping centers, so if you need anything — and I mean anything — it’s downstairs. The metro station is a five-minute walk, which gets you to West Lake in about 15 minutes. I found myself walking to the lake most evenings because the route takes you through some interesting local neighborhoods. The area gets busy during weekends (locals love shopping here), but it’s never overwhelming like some parts of Shanghai or Beijing.

Breakfast and Dining

The breakfast buffet surprised me — it’s actually quite good for a mid-range hotel. They do a solid mix of Western options and local Hangzhou dishes, plus there’s a decent vegetarian selection if that’s your thing. The congee station is particularly well done, and they make fresh noodles to order. I mean, it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s substantial enough that you won’t need lunch until later. There’s also a restaurant on the upper floor that serves decent Zhejiang cuisine, though honestly, you’re better off exploring the food courts in the mall below.

Why Guests Love It

The free parking is a huge deal if you’re driving — most hotels in this area charge for it or don’t have it at all. But really, what makes this place work is the combination of location and value. You’re paying reasonable rates for a spot that puts you right in the middle of everything, with West Lake close enough for morning jogs and the shopping district literally at your doorstep. Couples seem to particularly enjoy it here (the rating reflects that), probably because you can easily do both the cultural sightseeing and the modern city experience without changing hotels. It’s one of those places that just makes sense for exploring Hangzhou properly.
