Huachen International Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Huachen International Hotel, you immediately get that feeling of being in the right place. The lobby has this polished, professional vibe that screams four-star without being stuffy — honestly, it’s exactly what you’d expect from a well-run business hotel in Hangzhou. The staff actually seem to know what they’re doing, which is refreshing when you’re dealing with jet lag and just want things to work smoothly.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about Pinghai Road in Shangcheng — you’re basically in the sweet spot of the city. I mean, couples are rating this location 8.8 out of 10, and after staying here, I totally get why. You can walk to West Lake without breaking a sweat, and there’s this whole network of local restaurant and shops that tourists usually miss because they’re staying out in some generic hotel district. The fact that they scored 9.1 for location isn’t just marketing fluff — you’re genuinely in the heart of everything that makes Hangzhou worth visiting.
The Room Experience
The room itself is what I’d call “business traveler comfortable” — clean lines, decent space, and everything actually works the way it should. You know what I appreciated most? The windows are big enough that you don’t feel like you’re in a box, and the beds are firm without being rock-hard. The bathroom setup is practical rather than fancy, but honestly, after a long day exploring the city, you just want hot water and good water pressure, both of which deliver here. Modern amenities blend seamlessly with thoughtful design throughout.
Breakfast and Practical Perks
The breakfast buffet is actually worth getting up for — and I’m usually a “grab coffee and go” person. They’ve got this mix of Western standards and local options that doesn’t feel like they’re trying too hard to please everyone. What really sold me though was the free parking situation. If you’re planning to rent a car and explore beyond Hangzhou, this is huge because downtown downtown parking can be a real headache and expense in Chinese cities. The convenience extends to the on-site business center and concierge services.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t the kind of place that’s going to blow your mind with over-the-top amenities or Instagram-worthy design. What it does is nail the fundamentals — great location, solid service, and rooms that feel like a proper retreat after a day of sightseeing. The 8.2 rating makes perfect sense because it’s the kind of hotel that just works without any drama. You’ll sleep well, start your day properly fed, and step outside into one of the best neighborhoods in Hangzhou. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need, and this hotel delivers consistently.
Locals suggest to book apartments in Hangzhou near Longjing village for dawn plucking walks and farmhouse lunches.

Nice hotel in good location. Fab views from the breakfast floor.
What could be improved: No mini fridge in room.Great place and awesome location near west lake – Victor from Brazil – 2 June 2025 (10/10)
Great room! Great location. Great breakfast. The staff are really awesome: sympathetic and ready to help. We enjoyed everything and ended up extending our stay!
What could be improved: nothing to sayVery good – Pian from Malaysia – 13 May 2025 (8/10)
A comfortable bed and very helpful staff
The facilities only a bit oldDon’t go there! – Chung from United Kingdom – 10 May 2025 (3/10)
Apart from the location – nothing else!
What could be improved: Service wasn’t great, they couldn’t even get us a cab to the station. Worst thing, they turned off the air on at night, the room became hot and stuffy. This for an asthma sufferer like myself wasn’t great. The breakfast was quite bland too.Staffs are polite ,room is clean, location is excellent – Ley from Malaysia – 11 April 2025 (7/10)
Facility is old and needs facelift urgently
Poor lake view, poor breakfast. – Robin from Sweden – 3 April 2025 (4/10)
Location is convenient for sightseeing and shopping.
What could be improved: Lake view was disappointing, certainly not what one sees in the pictures. Facility seemed old. Breakfast was unforgivably bad, didn’t even come close to what one gets in a 3-star hotel. Not much noise isolation.Very good – Wojciech from Poland – 24 February 2025 (8/10)
Nice hotel in very attractive localization. Close to the West Lake, restaurants and shops. Very good relation to what you get at this price. Very nice and helpful staff. The room was very clean and this state was maintained by the staff during my stay. I was allowed to stay longer without and extra charge – very rare nowadays.
What could be improved: The hotel is no longer as modern as it looks on photos.Exceptional – Luis from United States – 14 January 2025 (10/10)
Excellent location, good breakfast, and very comfortable rooms
What could be improved: N/AConvenient for walking to the west lake – Peggy from Hong Kong – 6 January 2025 (7/10)
It’s located in a quiet area while being very closed to the west lake and the busy shopping district around the west lake promenade with about 10 mins walk. You can enjoy sun rise and sun set of the west lake within a short walking distance if you want. The hotel has a sky restaurant offering buffet style breakfast with view overviewing the west lake.
What could be improved: The room has cigarette smell even when it was supposed to be a non-smoking room. Room is a bit small than what you can see from their official photos.
