Wyndham Grand Plaza Royale Hangzhou Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Wyndham Grand Plaza Royale Hangzhou, you immediately get that polished, upscale feeling you’d expect from a five-star property. The lobby has this grand, contemporary design that manages to feel both impressive and welcoming — not stuffy like some luxury hotels can be. What struck me right away was how efficiently everything runs here, from check-in to the staff who actually seem to know what they’re doing. The attention to detail is evident in every corner, from the gleaming marble floors to the carefully curated artwork adorning the walls.
Prime Hangzhou Location
Honestly, the location on Feng Qi Road is pretty much perfect if you want to be in the heart of Hangzhou. You’re right in Xiacheng district, which means you can walk to shopping areas, restaurants, and business centers without dealing with the hassle of long taxi rides. I mean, couples are rating this spot 9.2 out of 10, and after staying here, I totally get why. You’re close enough to West Lake to make day trips easy, but far enough from the tourist chaos to actually get some peace. The neighborhood offers an excellent blend of modern convenience and local charm that appeals to all types of travelers.
The Room Experience
The room itself — well, this is where the hotel really shines. Those beds they’re bragging about? They’re not exaggerating. I’m usually a pretty light sleeper, but I slept like a rock here. The rooms are spacious by Chinese hotel standards, with floor-to-ceiling windows that give you decent city views. Everything feels fresh and well-maintained, which you don’t always get even at luxury properties that have been around for a while. The modern furnishings and thoughtful layout make the space feel both comfortable and sophisticated.
Dining and Amenities
Breakfast is actually worth getting up for, which is saying something. They’ve got this buffet setup with both Asian and American options — so whether you want congee and dim sum or eggs and bacon, you’re covered. The restaurant quality is solid throughout the day too. And here’s something that’ll save you money and headaches: they have free private parking right at the hotel. Trust me, if you’re driving in Hangzhou, this is huge. The spa facilities add another layer of relaxation to your stay.
Why Guests Love It
Look, there are fancier hotels in Hangzhou, but this place gets the fundamentals right in a way that actually matters when you’re traveling. The staff speaks decent English, the location puts you where you need to be, and you’ll sleep well — which honestly covers about 80% of what makes a hotel stay successful. It’s the kind of place where business travelers feel comfortable, but couples also find it romantic enough for a weekend getaway. The 7.9 rating feels about right — it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s going to deliver exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. Whether you’re visiting for business or leisure, this hotel consistently exceeds expectations.

Reviews of Wyndham Grand Plaza Royale Hangzhou
pretty good hotel – great location – extra friendly and helpful staff – but no specialty restaurant – Combat from Australia – 18 August 2025 (9/10)
What could be improved: Chinese Restaurant which we were looking forward to had closed down
They need to upgrade the facilities – Hui from Canada – 27 March 2025 (6/10)
The location is great! The room cleaning lady is nice.
What could be improved: There is no air-conditioning in the room. The outside temperature was about 28-29 C since we get there then hit 33 C on Mar 26. The room is facing south and was so hot that we can’t sleep over the whole stay. They only bring us a fan and no sorry or any other remedy. Most terrible accomodation! – Wayne from Australia – 22 March 2025 (1/10)
The food was terrible quality & the surrounding dirty.
What could be improved: Food was terrible & place was dirty.
We spoke to the hotel – and they agreed to cancel our send night’s stay.
The most disappointing part was that we tried several times to communicate with You! But your system did not allow us any options to cancel. This should be an easy option given such poor accomodation options are represented on your website!Great location and great staff – Abdul from Pakistan – 16 November 2024 (9/10)
It was a good experience
Good – Kuo-ching from United States – 9 November 2024 (7/10)

The location
What could be improved: No one spoke English or EVEN attempted to help either problems I had- I was left feeling very isolatedVery good – Handi from Singapore – 21 March 2024 (8/10)
Great view of the mountain.
Good, but not cheap – Gecko70 from Netherlands – 23 July 2023 (8/10)
Nice room with a desk. Close to West Lake.
What could be improved: Hotel is relatively expensive compared to alternatives.
The check-in process was a bit awkward with the receptionist going through a set of memorized questions without really seeming to have much understanding of English. After having given him our passports he said 'can I have your passports please' and 'what's your name?' (it's right there in my passport, right?).
