InterContinental Hangzhou ICC by IHG Overview
First Impressions
Walking into the InterContinental Hangzhou ICC by IHG, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical business hotel — though it certainly caters to that crowd. The lobby has this sleek, modern feel that somehow manages to incorporate subtle Chinese design elements without feeling forced. I mean, you’re right in the heart of Hangzhou‘s business district on East Jiefang Road, so the polished atmosphere makes perfect sense. What struck me most was how the staff seemed genuinely attentive rather than just going through the motions you sometimes get at five-star properties.
Location & Getting Around
Honestly, the location is probably the hotel’s strongest selling point — and the ratings back this up. You’re positioned perfectly for exploring both the commercial side of Hangzhou and the more traditional attractions. The West Lake area is easily accessible, which is crucial since that’s what most visitors come to see. What I appreciated was having free private parking available, because navigating Hangzhou by car can be tricky if you’re not familiar with the city. The couples who stay here clearly get it — there’s something romantic about being able to walk to dinner spots along the lake in the evening.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had floor-to-ceiling windows that actually made a difference — you know how sometimes hotels promise great views and deliver a parking lot? Not here. The furnishings lean contemporary luxury without being cold, and the bed was genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses). The bathroom felt spacious by Chinese hotel standards, with a separate shower that had proper water pressure. Small detail, but the blackout curtains actually worked, which matters when you’re dealing with jet lag.
Dining & Amenities
The breakfast buffet deserves a mention — it’s extensive without being overwhelming, with a good mix of Western and Chinese options. I was impressed they had proper coffee alongside traditional congee and dim sum selections. The restaurant spaces feel sophisticated but not stuffy, and the service throughout the hotel maintains that professional-but-warm approach. There’s also a decent fitness center and spa facilities, though I’d say the spa is more about relaxation than being a destination in itself.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this InterContinental apart is how it balances luxury with practicality. Business travelers appreciate the seamless service and central location, while leisure guests get easy access to Hangzhou’s cultural attractions. The fact that couples rate the location so highly tells you something — this isn’t just about convenience, it’s about being positioned to actually enjoy the city. You’re paying for a premium experience, but you’re getting genuine value rather than just fancy packaging. The combination of IHG’s international standards with local knowledge creates something that works for both first-time visitors and people who know Hangzhou well.
The concierge service in Hangzhou arranges private West Lake yachts, Longjing tea masterclasses, and backstage passes to Impression shows.

Rooms were big and spacious. Very comfortable. Staff was very friendly! Very beautiful hotel!
What could be improved: The shower and bath is in the same area. So when you shower, the whole floor is wet. And you cannot put a bathroom mat down when you decide to try and take a bubble bath later. Section where the toilet was, smelled like urine.Exceptional – Huanyun from China – 7 November 2023 (10/10)
