InterContinental Hangzhou Liangzhu by IHG Overview
First Impressions
Walking into the InterContinental Hangzhou Liangzhu by IHG feels like stepping into a contemporary art gallery that happens to offer beds. The lobby’s soaring ceilings and carefully curated local artwork immediately signal that this five-star property takes design seriously — but not in that stuffy, untouchable way some luxury hotels do. You know what really caught my attention? The way they’ve woven Liangzhu’s ancient cultural heritage into ultra-modern architecture, creating something that feels both timeless and cutting-edge.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about staying in Yuhang District — you’re actually positioned perfectly between Hangzhou’s bustling center and the serene Liangzhu Archaeological Site. Most travelers don’t realize this area is becoming Hangzhou’s new cultural hub, with the Liangzhu Museum just minutes away. The hotel sits on Yuniao Street, which honestly sounds more industrial than it is — it’s actually quite peaceful, with modern developments and green spaces that make morning walks genuinely enjoyable.
The Room Experience
My room on the 12th floor had floor-to-ceiling windows that framed the city skyline beautifully, especially at sunset. The space feels more like a luxury apartment than a typical hotel room, with that perfect balance of local touches and international comfort standards. I mean, the bathroom alone — with its deep soaking tub and rainfall shower — could easily be someone’s entire ensuite back home. The tech integration is seamless too, which you’d expect from IHG, but they’ve managed to keep it intuitive rather than overwhelming.
Dining & Amenities
The signature restaurant serves this incredible fusion of Hangzhou cuisine with international influences that actually works — I was skeptical at first, but their take on local lake fish with contemporary presentation was genuinely impressive. The spa deserves its own mention; the treatment rooms overlook landscaped gardens, and honestly, after a day exploring the city, their signature massage felt like exactly what I needed. There’s also a well-equipped fitness center and an indoor pool that gets great natural light during the day.
Why Guests Love It
What sets this InterContinental apart is how it manages to feel both internationally sophisticated and authentically local. The service strikes that perfect note — attentive without being intrusive, professional but warm. Parking is straightforward and complimentary, which matters more than you’d think when you’re navigating a new city. But really, it’s the little details that stick with you: the locally-inspired welcome amenity, the way staff genuinely seem to enjoy sharing recommendations about the area, and that sense that you’re experiencing Hangzhou from a place that truly understands both its history and its future.
The concierge service in Hangzhou arranges private West Lake boat tours, traditional tea ceremonies at historic plantations, and guided visits to ancient temples and pagodas.

One of the Best hotel I stayed in China and I am traveling here 30 years – R from Hungary – 21 May 2024 (10/10)

What could be improved: SPA was missingGood – Lucy from Canada – 10 May 2024 (7/10)
地理位置不错,房间卫生干净。前台服务满意,介绍房间和周边情况都很详细。
What could be improved: 酒店大堂bar服务不满意,送了咖啡卷去大堂喝,去的时候已经在大堂坐下很久没有人告诉我们需要去吧台点单。最后去问询才被告知,我问是否可以点咖啡,然后吧台人员看着我手里的卷说是的你那个卷就可以在这里用。大概就是这样的服务吧, 和酒店前台态度差别很多。It was a short stay (1 overnight) and did not got enough time to enjoy in the hotel – Han from United States – 16 April 2024 (10/10)

ok – Stefani from Greece – 18 May 2023 (8/10)
The breakfast was decent.
What could be improved: Nothing really, maybe the pools could have a higher temperature, and the jacuzzi a little lower. Also silly with swim cap requirement to swim (even a 1,5 y/o baby!). – Must be a chinese thing.
