Plus, you’re surrounded by local eateries and shops that tourists staying in the big international hotels never discover.

The room I stayed in felt more like a small studio than a hotel room, which is exactly the point of a service apartment. You get a proper kitchenette (nothing fancy, but it has everything you need for simple meals), and the space actually feels livable rather than just functional.   Cozy place, with two king size bed, a small kitchen but no cups/plates or utensils. The beds are a bit hard but comfy. A kettle, microwave, manual washing machine/no dryer and fridge is available. Lots of food stalls nearby, West Lake and large shopping malls within 15minutes walk. There's a night market nightly right in front of the hotel and halal food options nearby too. The reception can arrange for private car tours and lots of taxis outside too.

  Very spacious comfortabe room with a good view. There is a washing machine and a drying rack in my room so it makes managing my laundry better. Good location, near food street.

  Location was good and nearby to touristy locations and shopping. Many amenities (food, convenience stores) nearby. Very convenient. Value for money compared to the other hotels in the same area.
  There is also a daily night market just downstairs, depending on the weather (rain is a no no for them.)
  Tip for first timers there: (Better have a map as it was a bit confusing for first time visitors) – You better know mandarin too and WeChat downloaded into your mobile phone (for daily housekeeping notification to the front desk)
  
  What could be improved: First Time in my Holiday Travel History:
  Oh my god, there was this major renovation going on for one of the floors/levels in the apartment building and nobody notified us! (Monday till Friday) There was loud drilling and hacking from 8am till 5.30pm. Didn't need to set the alarm clock. I couldn't even watch TV (had to switch on the volume to very loud.)
  It was Horrendous and luckily we spent most of our time outdoors! It was a relief the renovation didn't carry on into the weekends. I was on the verge of booking another hotel and shifting.
  I was abit pissed and felt scammed nobody informed us. (Was pondering why was the stay so cheap compared to the rest of the apartments in the same areas.) – So that explains.
